Zhejiang Zhoushan: Building a demonstration park for marine prefabricated vegetable industry

PUTUO Prefabricated Vegetable Wanyang Innovation City project officially started construction in Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province on August 28. The project will strive to build a "demonstration park" for the marine prefabricated vegetable industry, reported Lin Bo, a reporter from China News Service.

This year's No. 1 central document points out: "Improve the standardization and standardization level of industries such as clean vegetables and central kitchens. Cultivate and develop the prefabricated vegetable industry." This is the first time that prefabricated vegetables have been included in the No. 1 central document since their inception.

According to relevant reports, the size of China's prefabricated vegetable market reached 419.6 billion yuan in 2022, and is expected to reach 1072 billion yuan in 2026. A trillion-level "blue ocean" industry is about to be born.

Currently, the domestic prefabricated vegetable industry is developing well, and the market is constantly expanding.

Zhoushan is located at the confluence of the eastern coast of China and the Yangtze River Golden Waterway. It is China's largest fishing production, processing, and sales base, and is known as the "China Fishing Capital".

Zhoushan has unique advantages in developing seafood prefabricated vegetables. The city is actively seizing opportunities, systematically planning the whole chain to promote the development of the "one fish" industry, and building a 100 billion-level modern marine fishery industry cluster.

Zhang Chao, director of the Zhejiang Putuo Economic Development Zone Management Committee, said that as a major marine area, Putuo has abundant fishery resources and a profound processing foundation. It is a veritable "East China Sea granary", and has unique advantages and broad prospects for developing the prefabricated vegetable industry.

Reporters learned that as the first major manufacturing project with an investment of over 2 billion yuan introduced by Putuo District this year, the project has a large investment scale, good economic benefits, and strong aggregation effects. Its successful launch is also a specific practice of Putuo accelerating the development of the entire prefabricated vegetable industry chain and improving the development level of advanced manufacturing.

It is reported that the project has a total planned land area of about 500 mu, a total construction area of about 500,000 square meters, and a planned total investment of about 2.1 billion yuan. It will build a highly influential prefabricated vegetable (central kitchen) full-industry chain park, bringing together upstream and downstream supporting parks related to the prefabricated vegetable industry, including marine biotechnology research and development, food and health product processing and production, automated machinery manufacturing, product packaging, e-commerce, and cold chain logistics.

"The prefabricated vegetable industry has broad prospects for development, and Zhoushan, as a major marine fishery city, has significant characteristic advantages, which led us to finally choose Zhoushan and Putuo." Yuan Yongjun, general manager of Wanyang Group's East Zhejiang region, said.
